In an effort to draw attention to former cultural fashion panaches that have been diluted in our current time, I have created a look based around the Eastern European headscarf, also referred to as ‘babushka’.
I am currently intrigued with the evolution of the headscarf as a focal fashion accessory. Think 1950’s, driving a beetle shaped convertible on the way to a fabulous getaway after a visit to the hairdressers that requires an accessory shield for protection against the roaring winds of the car journey. This is indeed a calling for a beautiful silk square shaped ensemble to be paired with sunglasses and a pop of rouge. In my case it is calling for my beautiful blue illustrated silk Moschino
Cheap Sheep and Chic scarf.
My look was composed of a sixties Mod-esque Kate Spade Mondrian print dress paired with daisy nude shoes from Asos, cat eye shades, and pop of rouge from Mac. My lovely friend Katie, who has joined me for this duet style post is wearing a floral printed vintage fifties dress with a red and fuchsia hued vintage scarf, and lime suede pumps from Madewell. Katie and I are both accessorizing with handbags from one of our favorite go to retailers for quirky unusual bags: Kate Spade.

Aside from being fabulously decadent occasions when self-indulgence is totally permissible, birthdays are also the perfect excuse to play dress up. Your twenties present the perfect opportunity to showcase your personal style and get away with almost anything, so have fun creating a memorable and unique birthday look for the one day in the year that is guaranteed to be all about you!
The leather material and fashion-forward cut of this black Theory dress put an edgy, irreverent spin on the timeless Little Black Dress. The beauty of a classic piece such the LBD lies in its versatility; you can create different looks depending on how you choose to accessorize it. Whether you pile on the jewels for an OTT look or utilize the power of a single statement piece, the styling possibilities are virtually endless. Here, an oversized white floral statement necklace is the only accessory added to the look. The femininity of the Chanel-inspired piece juxtaposes with the tough feel of the dress for an ultramodern feel.
Finally, strategic pops of bright colour were added to elevate the black and white colour palette of this outfit and keep the look summer ready. Suede lime heels add a bright burst of colour and textural contrast, and the bright colours on the lips and nails keep this look young and fresh.

Keeping a creative mind-set when it comes to your look can help you create unique outfits that tell a story. This ladylike take on summer day dressing evokes the glamour of old Hollywood starlets and was inspired by scenes of sailors bidding adieu to their impeccably dressed paramours at the port.
The elegant, loose-fitting cream dress is made of a lightweight material that is perfect for a summer day and features a subtle ruffle detailing on the neckline. The belted waist on the dress adds definition and creates a feminine silhouette, while the longer sleeves and below the knee length keep things demure and sophisticated. Chic accessorizing is all about keeping it simple with statement pieces that tie the look together. Here, a maroon hat acts as the focal accessory and gives another glamorous vintage aspect to the outfit. The complimentary bangles add a contemporary feel and accessorize the look without overwhelming it.
Low heels are a comfortable footwear option for glamorous daytime dressing. These navy blue suede shoes continue the nautical colour palette and also add colour contrast. To finish things off, dark red lips compliment the deep tones in the look and add a glamorous touch.
